Indian rupee strengthens against US dollar on Friday
Nov-06-2026

Indian rupee has strengthened against US dollar on Friday supported by strong capital inflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs). FIIs were the net buyers in Thursday’s session, buying securities worth Rs 14,974.68 crore. Further, investors remained sanguine about India-US trade deal post Democrats’ victory in US mid-term election. GTRI founder Ajay Srivastava said US President Donald Trump’s political setback in the November 2026 midterm elections could accelerate India-US trade negotiations, with an agreement potentially concluded within two months. He said the results may push Trump to prioritise trade discussions and expedite the proposed deal, which is reportedly nearing completion despite some remaining differences. On the global front, British pound has weakened against the US dollar on Friday as Bank of England raised interest rates for the first time in more than three years.

Finally, the rupee ended at 93.98 (Provisional), strengthened by 43 paise from its previous close of 94.41 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 94.50 and 93.82 respectively.
