BJP will bring UCC in Uttar Pradesh if voted to power again: Amit Shah
Oct-30-2026

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the BJP would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttar Pradesh if voted back to power in next year’s Assembly elections. Addressing the BJP’s state working committee meeting in Lucknow, Shah said, ‘This time, when the government comes to power, UCC will be implemented in Uttar Pradesh. UCC has already been implemented in many states.

Amit Shah said the BJP in Uttar Pradesh could not be dislodged as the government has firmly established itself in the state. He said the state had seen enormous progress during the last 10 years under Yogi Adityanath, adding, “The government has transformed the state for good on the development and law and order front.”

Claiming that the Samajwadi Party would remain out of power in the state, Shah said, “(SP president) Akhilesh babu, mark my words, your party will not form the government in Uttar Pradesh for the next 30 years. The people will not forgive even your third generation.” He also attacked opposition parties over their allegations of vote theft, and compared their complaints to a team blaming the umpire after losing a match.

Shah also urged the functionaries to work with single-minded dedication to secure the victory, saying that no leader could win elections but only workers could do it.

Union Home Minister kick started the daylong meeting at the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University auditorium. Adityanath, Chaudhary, and Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, several senior BJP leaders, including Vinod Tawde, Smriti Irani, and Jitin Prasada, along with ministers, MPs, and MLAs, attended the meeting.
