Markets trade below neutral lines in late morning deals
Oct-27-2026

Indian equity markets traded below neutral lines in late morning deals amid weak cues from other Asian markets. Traders remained on sidelines ahead to the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy announcement on Wednesday. However, losses remained capped as Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said India is negotiating free trade agreements (FTAs) with several countries and groups, with talks with Chile ‘quite ripe’ for conclusion and negotiations with Canada making good progress.

The Sensex fell 0.19%, while the Nifty declined 0.06%, amid selling in ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever and Tata Consultancy Services. On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly in the red despite positive cues from the US markets overnight. Back home, in the stock specific development, Sona BLW Precision surged over 9 percent after the company reported a 29% growth in Q2 consolidated net profit.

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 73465.32, down by 141.43 points or 0.19% after trading in a range of 73210.76 and 73686.18. There were 16 stocks advancing against 14 stocks declining on the index.

Meanwhile, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal has said that most of the discussions between India and the US on the proposed bilateral trade deal have been completed, and the two sides are now fine-tuning the agreement. Goyal's statement came days after US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that India and US have ‘extraordinary alignment’ on the core issues and ‘very, very close’ to signing a bilateral trade deal, with only a few points to be ironed out.

India and the US, in February, announced finalisation of the framework for the first phase of the bilateral trade agreement (BTA). However, changes in the tariff landscape in the US have led to further negotiations on the pact. Besides, Goyal said India has concluded nine free trade agreements in the last four and a half years.

In 2025, the bilateral trade between two countries stood at $149.42 billion. During the year, India's total goods exports to the U.S. reached $103.82 billion, while US exports to India totalled around $45.6 billion. Further, the bilateral services trade in 2025 was recorded $92.23 billion, where India exported $48.67 billion worth of services to the US and imported $43.56 billion worth of services from the US.

The CNX Nifty is currently trading at 22740.45, down by 12.75 points or 0.06% after trading in a range of 22653.20 and 22804.50. There were 26 stocks advancing against 24 stocks declining on the index.
