Markets hold gains in late trade
Oct-15-2026

Indian equity markets maintained gains in late afternoon session, supported by strong buying interest in IT, Banking and Auto stocks. IT stocks turned in some of the market's best performances on the day after Accenture’s optimistic FY29 revenue growth outlook put investors in a buying mood. Accenture is aiming for mid-to-high single-digit revenue growth from FY29 as growth is expected to pick up with rising enterprise adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), large-scale business reinvention, and acquisitions. Further, value buying following the recent losses made by the markets supported the gains. Besides, ease in US bond yields and decline in crude oil prices kept trading sentiments upbeat.

On the global, all Asian equity markets were trading lower amid heavy selling among AI and Semiconductor stocks. European equity markets were trading mostly in green after data showed UK economy expanded 0.1% month-on-month in August 2026, while EU’s monthly Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices fell 0.3% after increasing 0.7% in August.

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 74136.59, up by 1354.70 points or 1.86% after trading in a range of 72896.38 and 74330.29. There were 28 stocks advancing against 2 stocks declining on the index.

The increase came despite a 40.7% rise in Indian exports, as Chinese exports continued to surge.

The bilateral trade between India and China reached $144.45 billion during January-September, registering a growth of 25.4%. China's exports to India increased by 23.3% to $125.19 billion, while India's exports to China rose by 40.7% to $19.26 billion year-on-year.

China's exports are dominated by electronics, machinery and chemicals catering to India's manufacturing base, while India's exports to China are made up of a mix of primary and resource products like ores, fuels, seafood and agricultural items.
