Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Wednesday
Oct-14-2026

Indian rupee has strengthened against US dollar for the fourth consecutive session on Wednesday.  Reserve Bank of India’s measures designed to ease near-term dollar demand and limit speculative foreign exchange exposure continued to support the domestic currency. Further, investors remained optimistic after India and Canada have discussed expediting negotiations for the proposed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which seeks to provide deeper market access for each other’s goods and services. Meanwhile, traders overlooked India’s WPI inflation data which showed WPI inflation rose significantly in the month of September 2026 to 11.39%, as compared to 9.92% in August 2026, due to a sharp rise in fuel and power, food and manufactured product prices. On the global front, British pound has strengthened against the US dollar on Wednesday ahead of US inflation data.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.19 (Provisional), strengthened by 17 paise from its previous close of 95.36 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.19 and 94.76 respectively.
