Post Session: Quick Review
Oct-06-2026

Indian equity markets ended higher on Tuesday and extended gains for the second consecutive session, with the indices ending firmly in positive territory. Markets made a positive start of the day and maintained the firm rally till the end of the session, amid positive global cues.

Easing concerns over oil supplies helped both indices, Sensex and Nifty, to end near their intraday high points. The up move was also supported by renewed buying interest in banking and financial stocks, along with strength in telecom counters. Trent emerged as a standout performer after a strong quarterly business update.

Some of the important factors in trade:

World Bank raises India’s economic growth forecast to 7.1% for FY27: The World Bank in its latest October economic update has raised India’s economic growth forecast to 7.1 per cent for fiscal year 2026-27 (FY27) from 6.6 per cent forecasted in April, supported by robust domestic demand and strong exports, despite global headwinds.

India’s services sector strengthens in September on improving demand conditions: According to the survey report, the seasonally adjusted HSBC India Services PMI Business Activity Index rose to 55.2 in September from 54.1 in August. Besides, the HSBC India Composite PMI Output Index -- which measures both manufacturing and services -- also increased from 54.3 in August to 55.9 in September.

India-US trade talks reach ‘plateau’, limited room for further concessions: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that negotiations for the India-US trade agreement are still underway, but both sides appear to have reached a 'plateau', with limited room for further concessions from either side.

Auto stocks remain in watch: Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) said that the automobile retail sales in India increased 31.82 per cent year-on-year to a record 25,36,920 units in September 2026 helped by festive demand and a low base.
