Indian rupee weakens against US dollar on Monday
Oct-05-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Monday. Initially, rupee opened on a stronger note against the dollar, supported by ease in Brent crude oil prices from their recent highs and Finance Ministry’s report indicating a GDP growth of 7.3% in Q2FY27. However, the domestic currency got weakened over the course of the session as persistent foreign capital outflows dampened investor sentiment. Foreign institutional investors were the net sellers on Thursday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 9,484.22 crore. Further, continued dollar strength weighed on the rupee. On the global front, euro has weakened against the US dollar on Monday amid worries over rising borrowing costs and political instability in France.

Finally, the rupee ended at 96.35 (Provisional), weakened by 10 paise from its previous close of 96.25 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 96.35 and 96.20 respectively.
