Coal India reports 9.2% rise in coal production during September

Coal India has reported rise of 9.2% in coal production to 53.5 million tonnes (MT) (Provisional) during September 2026 as compared to 49.0 MT (Provisional) in September 2025. It produced 321.0 MT (Provisional) of coal during April- September period of 2026, down 2.5% from 329.1 MT (Provisional) during the same period previous year.   

In September 2026, coal offtake increased by 12.5% to 61.2 MT (Provisional) from 54.4 MT (Provisional) in September 2025. The total offtake of coal during the April- September period of 2026 grew to 384.2 MT (Provisional), up 7.6% from 357.0 MT (Provisional) in the corresponding period last fiscal.   

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
