Benchmarks relinquish gains to trade in red during late afternoon deals
Sep-30-2026

Indian equity markets have relinquished most of the gains to trade in the negative territory in late afternoon session. Surging crude oil price and high bond yield have made investors nervous. The Brent crude oil prices surged past the $103 a barrel mark as Iran has threatened to target infrastructure across the Middle East if its security concerns were not addressed. Besides, market sentiment remained subdued as foreign institutional investors (FIIs) continued to pull out capital from Indian markets. FIIs were the net sellers on Tuesday, offloading securities worth Rs 9,980.22 crore.

Both Sensex and Nifty faced selling pressure with Sensex trading just below the neutral line, while Nifty traded with cut of over three tenth of a percent weighed by selling among hospital and insurance stocks.
