Rupee weakens against US dollar in early trade on Wednesday

The Indian Rupee weakened against the US dollar in early trade on Wednesday, tracking firm American currency overseas with mounting expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates again as soon as October. Rupee fell further by firm Brent crude prices after Trump rejected reports that he was prepared to ease sanctions on Iran, while Qatar pushed for peace talks. Moreover, persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) also weighed on rupee sentiment. FIIs offloaded equities worth Rs 9,980.22 crore on a net basis on Tuesday, exchange data showed. 

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 95.98, weaker by 4 paise from its previous close of 95.94 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.9825 and 95.87 respectively.
