Indian rupee weakens against US dollar on Thursday
Sep-24-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Thursday as Brent crude oil prices spiked up to trade above $105 a barrel mark amid worries over escalating tensions in West Asia. Investors also fear the spillover of war in West Asia after private reports indicated that Iran may expand the war to the Indian Ocean and beyond if the US or Israel launch another attack. Besides, surging bond yield and rising expectations of another rate hike by US Federal Reserve have sparked caution among market participants. On the global front, British pound has weakened against the US dollar on Thursday following hawkish comments from Bank of England policymakers.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.99 (Provisional), weakened by 26 paise from its previous close of 95.73 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.99 and 95.80 respectively.
