CJP threatens 'Jantar Mantar 2.0' if CEC Gyanesh Kumar does not resign
Sep-24-2026

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for the alleged irregularities in the EC and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and warned of a nationwide agitation, including ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0’, if he does not step down within 48 hours.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke alleged that the electoral process had been ‘rigged’ and the right to vote was being taken away from citizens. Abhijeet said, ‘If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign within 48 hours, we will start a nationwide protest, before coming for a protest in Delhi’, adding that if the CEC doesn't resign, ‘Jantar Mantar 2.0 will definitely happen’. He alleged that Kumar was the ‘biggest threat to Indian democracy’ and accused the EC of deciding who would be allowed to vote. Dipke also said opposition parties should not participate in polls if they believe they are being rigged.

The demands came a day after The Indian Express reported that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally objected at least 14 times over the past 10 months to decisions and orders of the Election Commission, including on addition, deletion and restoration of voters and changes to the voter registration process during the SIR of electoral rolls.

While, the controversy has also drawn criticism from several Opposition leaders such as Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal. The Election Commission has disputed allegations that electoral rolls or elections were manipulated.
