Rupee shows mild strength against US dollar on Thursday
Sep-17-2026

Indian rupee has showed mild strength against US dollar on Thursday despite the U.S. Federal Reserve raised interest rates. The rupee opened on stronger note on Thursday, supported by a retreat in global crude oil price from their recent highs. However, over the course of the session the domestic currency experienced pressure as traders remained cautious about persistent selling by the foreign institutional investors (FIIs). FIIs were the net sellers on Wednesday’s session offloading securities worth Rs 2,032.61 crore. On the global front, British pound has weakened against US dollar on Thursday after the Bank of England kept rates at 3.75%.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.89 (Provisional), strengthened by 2 paise from its previous close of 95.91 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 96.10 and 95.78 respectively.
