Indian rupee softens marginally against US dollar on Wednesday

Indian rupee has softened marginally against US dollar on Wednesday as traders awaited the US Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision later in the day. Further, high crude oil prices and continued to weigh on the domestic currency. The Brent crude oil prices trading above $107 a barrel amid tensions in West Asia. Besides, foreign institutional investors were the net sellers on the Tuesday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 2,977.86 crore. On the global front, British pound has weakened against US dollar on Wednesday ahead of Bank of England’s policy decision on Thursday.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.91 (Provisional), weakened by 3 paise from its previous close of 95.88 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.98 and 95.85 respectively.
