Indian rupee strengthens against US dollar on Tuesday
Sep-01-2026

Indian rupee has strengthened against US dollar on Tuesday as investors remained optimistic after India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth surged to 7.8% in April-June quarter (first quarter) of current fiscal year 2026-27 (Q1FY27), from 6.9% in Q1FY26. The Indian economy has sustained growth momentum despite global headwinds. The growth rate is well above the Reserve Bank of India’s 7.0% projection for the quarter ended June. On the global front, euro has weakened against US dollar on Tuesday after Eurozone annual inflation accelerated to 3.3% in August 2026 from 2.9% in July.

Finally, the rupee ended at 94.96 (Provisional), strengthened by 26 paise from its previous close of 95.22 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.10 and 94.79 respectively.
