Cabinet reshuffle very soon, new BJP, NCP faces may be inducted: Ramdas Athawale
Aug-17-2026

Union Minister and RPI(A) chief Ramdas Athawale said a reshuffle of the Union cabinet can take place ‘very soon’, with new faces from the BJP and ally NCP expected to be inducted into the government.

Athawale also said the Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) must bridge ideological differences and join the ruling NDA to strengthen development efforts. He remarked that eight MPs of the Opposition party should join the NDA if Pawar refuses to do so. Minister said, ‘There may be ideological differences, but they (Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Pawar) should join the NDA, citing his own example and former NDA allies including former Defence Minister George Fernandes, Nitish Kumar, Sharad Yadav, Mamata Banerjee and Naveen Patnaik.

The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment further said that Dr. Abhijit Deepke, convener of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), should join RPI(A) to realize Babasaheb Ambedkar's dream and strengthen the society and the party.

Ramdas Athawale also expressed concern over the demand to cancel reservation from some sections, saying that reservation is a constitutional right and the government should take strict action against those demanding it.
