Indices maintain gains in late morning trade
Jul-27-2026

Domestic equity indices maintained their gains in late morning trade, supported by buying from funds and retail investors. Hectic buying in Eternal, Infosys, InterGlobe Aviation, Asian Paints, and Bajaj Finance helped both the Sensex and the Nifty to trade above their psychological levels of 76,700 and 23,950, respectively. Falling crude oil prices and positive cues from other Asian markets supported domestic sentiment. Crude oil prices fell after Iran reportedly said it would suspend attacks as long as a U.S. pause in hostilities remains in place, easing concerns over nearly two weeks of escalating conflict. Traders took note of a private report that the Reserve Bank of India will keep its key interest rate unchanged at 5.25% in August and for the rest of the year. All the sectoral indices on the BSE were trading in the green led by IT, Realty, TECK, Consumer Disc and Healthcare.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly in the green amid a pause in fighting between the U.S. and Iran over the weekend. Back home, in the stock specific development,       Hirect surged as the company secured an order worth around Rs 60 crore form Modern Coach Factory (MCF) / Indian Railways.

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 76759.22, up by 699.45 points or 0.92% after trading in a range of 76517.85 and 76761.79. There were 25 stocks advancing against 5 stocks declining on the index.

Meanwhile, the Commerce Ministry has said that India and Israel concluded the second round of negotiations for the proposed India-Israel Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with both sides making progress towards a balanced, comprehensive and mutually beneficial FTA. The four-day negotiations were held at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi, from July 20, 2026 to July 23, 2026.
During the negotiations, technical experts from both sides held dedicated sessions covering trade in goods, trade in services, rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, intellectual property rights, customs procedures and trade facilitation, economic cooperation, and other chapters under the proposed Agreement. The discussions were constructive and forward-looking, with both sides engaging in detailed technical deliberations aimed at narrowing gaps and identifying areas of convergence.

The Terms of Reference (ToR), signed in November 2025, continue to provide the structured framework for negotiations on the identified areas to strengthen bilateral trade, economic cooperation and the overall economic partnership between the two countries. Total merchandise trade between India and Israel stood at $3.93 billion in FY 2025-26. The two countries share strong complementarities across several sectors, and the proposed FTA presents significant opportunities to further enhance bilateral trade, investment and economic integration.
