Key indices continue to trade higher in morning deals

Indian equity benchmarks continued to trade higher in morning deals, following a sharp decline in crude oil prices amid easing tensions in the West Asia. Traders took support as the Commerce Ministry stated the second round of negotiations for the proposed free trade agreement between India and Israel covering multiple issues such as trade in goods and services, rules of origin, technical barriers, intellectual property rights, customs procedures and trade facilitations has been concluded this week. Some optimism also came as industry body Assocham said the implementation of the India-UK free trade agreement is expected to boost India's exports to Britain to $115 billion by 2030. The agreement came into force on July 15 this year. Traders paid no heed towards exchange data showed Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) offloaded equities worth Rs 3,892.77 crore on Friday. On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly in green after the United States and Iran paused strikes against each other for a second day, helping ease concerns over a broader conflict and supply disruptions in the Middle East. 

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 76575.00, up by 515.23 points or 0.68% after trading in a range of 76530.24 and 76715.64. There were 26 stocks advancing against 4 stocks declining on the index.

The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were IT up by 2.26%, Realty up by 1.78%, TECK up by 1.33%, Healthcare up by 1.24% and Consumer Discretionary up by 1.24%, while there was no losing sectoral index on the BSE. 

The top gainers on the Sensex were Interglobe Aviation up by 3.66%, Eternal up by 3.29%, Infosys up by 2.96%, Asian Paints up by 2.87% and TCS up by 2.52%. On the flip side, Power Grid down by 0.28%, HDFC Bank down by 0.16%, Bharti Airtel down by 0.05% and ICICI Bank down by 0.02% were the top losers.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada has said that the government is studying all the developments and remains engaged with the US in the framework of negotiating a bilateral trade agreement (BTA). 

Prasada said that the government continues to work closely with relevant stakeholders, including farmers, agricultural exporters, industry bodies, ministries/ departments and export promotion councils on issues related to import tariffs imposed by the US. Moreover, he said with a view to safeguarding India's trade interests, the government has taken into account inputs received from states on issues related to import tariffs imposed by the US. 

The India-US BTA negotiations were launched following the meeting of leaders from both sides in February 2025, where the two countries adopted the ‘Mission 500’ objective of expanding bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030. The two countries continued negotiations across multiple rounds and announced a framework for an interim trade deal on February 2, 2026.

The CNX Nifty is currently trading at 23915.20, up by 147.75 points or 0.62% after trading in a range of 23896.70 and 23964.50. There were 39 stocks advancing against 11 stocks declining on the index.

The top gainers on Nifty were Infosys up by 3.26%, Interglobe Aviation up by 3.23%, Eternal up by 3.21%, Asian Paints up by 2.99% and TCS up by 2.44%. On the flip side, ONGC down by 2.66%, SBI Life Insurance down by 0.81%, Wipro down by 0.63%, Power Grid down by 0.38% and Cipla down by 0.35% were the top losers.

Asian markets were trading mostly in green; Nikkei 225 surged 187.85 points or 0.29% to 64,799.00, Shanghai Composite strengthened 18.26 points or 0.48% to 3,832.46, KOSPI increased 14.91 points or 0.22% to 6,705.53, Hang Seng advanced 205.77 points or 0.82% to 25,169.00 and Straits Times rose 12.31 points or 0.22% to 5,600.65.

On the flip side, Taiwan Weighted lost 368.75 points or 0.84% to 43,286.09 and Jakarta Composite plunged 22.7 points or 0.37% to 6,173.73.
