Rupee strengthens against dollar on Friday

Indian rupee has strengthened against the US dollar on Friday as Brent crude oil prices fell over 3% to trade near $95.50 a barrel. Further, Reserve Bank of India is all set to buyback of government securities (G-Sec) worth Rs 20,000 crore on July 28, 2026, to increase liquidity in the banking system. Besides, trader overlooked the HSBC Flash PMI data for July indicating that India’s private sector activity witnessed the slowest pace of expansion since March 2022, amid intensified inflationary pressures. HSBC Flash India Services PMI Business Activity Index fell to 53.1 in July from June’s final reading of 57.4. On the global front, the euro has softened marginally against the US dollar on Friday amid persistent dollar strength.

Finally, the rupee ended at 96.53 (Provisional), strengthened by 20 paise from its previous close of 96.73 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 96.81 and 96.30 respectively.
