Rupee trades flat against US dollar in early trade on Thursday
Jul-23-2026
The Indian rupee was trading flat against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday as heightened tensions in West Asia and elevated oil prices tempered risk appetite, while foreign fund outflows also added more pressure on the domestic unit. Both the United States and Iran signalled that a resumption of peace talks is unlikely in the near term despite ongoing mediation efforts. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 819.20 crore on a net basis on Wednesday, exchange data showed. Investors also awaited next week's US Federal Reserve policy meeting for further direction on interest rates. Meanwhile, possible intervention by the RBI and a weaker American currency have supported the rupee to some extent.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading flat at its previous close of 96.53 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 96.5550 and 96.45 respectively.
