Rupee depreciates against dollar on Friday
Nov-07-2025

Indian rupee depreciated against the US dollar on Friday amid a strong American currency against major crosses overseas and rising crude oil prices. Traders were cautious as Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers of shares worth Rs 3,263.21 crore on November 6, 2025. Investors overlooked Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal’s statement that talks are progressing fast between India and New Zealand and expressed hope that the free trade agreement will be finalised soon. Besides, the commerce ministry has said that the next round of negotiations between India and the South American nation Peru are proposed to be held in January 2026 in the national capital. On the global front, ringgit continued to rise against the US dollar at the close on Friday driven by positive Malaysian economic data, steady Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) and weaker US economic data.

Finally, the rupee ended at 88.65 (Provisional), depreciated by 2 paise from its previous close of 88.63 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 88.72 and 88.61 respectively.
