Domestic equity indices trade slightly in green in late morning deals

Domestic equity indices erased losses and were trading slightly in green in late morning deals on account of buying in Tata Motors, Titan, Power Grid, Bajaj Finance and Mahindra & Mahindra. Meanwhile, broader indices outperformed their large peers with BSE Small cap index and BSE Mid cap index gaining in the range of 0.70-1.00%. Sentiments got boost as India and the UK clinched a 'landmark' trade deal that will remove taxes on the export of labour-intensive products such as leather, footwear and clothing, while making imports of whisky and cars from Britain cheaper, in a bid to double trade between the two economies to $120 billion by 2030. However, there was some cautiousness in markets after India retaliated by striking nine targets located in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. On the BSE sectoral front, traders were seen pilling up positions in Auto, Power, Consumer Durables, Metal and Consumer Disc, while selling was witnessed only in FMCG and Healthcare.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly in green after China’s central bank and financial regulators announced sweeping plans to cut key interest rates in an effort to shore up growth in the face of trade worries. Back home, in the stock specific development, BSE surged after it posted a multi-fold jump in net profit for the fourth quarter of the previous financial year.  

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 80725.62, up by 84.55 points or 0.10% after trading in a range of 79937.48 and 80844.63. There were 15 stocks advancing against 15 stocks declining on the index.

The broader indices were trading in green; the BSE Mid cap index was up by 1.00%, while Small cap index up by 0.70%.

The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were Auto up by 1.32%, Power up by 1.04%, Consumer Durables up by 1.04%, Metal up by 0.91%, Consumer Disc up by 0.91% while, FMCG down by 0.24%, Healthcare down by 0.08% were the only losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Tata Motors up by 4.08%, Titan up by 1.70%, Power Grid up by 1.53%, Bajaj Finance up by 1.39% and Mahindra & Mahindra up by 1.06%. On the flip side, Sun Pharma down by 1.20%, Asian Paints down by 1.10%, Indusind Bank down by 0.85%, Nestle down by 0.72% and ITC down by 0.53% were the top losers.

Meanwhile, the Minister of State for Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that Bharat Telecom is symphony of global collaboration and opportunity, and he highlighted India’s growing role as a telecom exporter and a hub of innovation, backed by progressive reforms and production-linked incentives. Bharat Telecom 2025 has been conceptualised to reinforce India’s position as a reliable and trusted telecom products manufacturing and export destination, by highlighting the country’s growing capabilities in telecom equipment, ICT services and next-generation digital technologies. 

Scindia added that within period of 22 months 99% of villages got connected with 5G, while bringing 82% of population onto the network, deploying 470,000 towers. He also emphasized the pace at which the country has caught up with the world in areas like 4G and 5G, and is now leading the charge, with sweeping reforms and technological innovation shaping the country's trajectory. The minister also underlined the role of India's telecom sector as a transformative force and described the nation's evolution from expensive, limited mobile access in the 1990s to now being the world's second-largest telecom market and the cheapest data provider.

Bharat Telecom 2025 was organized by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), in collaboration with Department of Telecommunications (DoT), which saw an enthusiastic international participation, with more than 130 foreign delegates from over 35 countries, representing government bodies, private enterprises etc. It also featured thematic exhibitions, conference sessions, high-impact B2B meetings, strategic networking sessions and knowledge-sharing forums focusing on cutting-edge communication technologies such as 5G, Optical Fibre, Broadband Infrastructure, Satellite Communication, IoT, AI-driven Networks and more.

The CNX Nifty is currently trading at 24406.45, up by 26.85 points or 0.11% after trading in a range of 24220.00 and 24449.60. There were 28 stocks advancing against 22 stocks declining on the index.

The top gainers on Nifty were Tata Motors up by 3.96%, Titan up by 1.66%, Power Grid up by 1.58%, Bajaj Finance up by 1.34% and Shriram Finance up by 1.28%. On the flip side, Asian Paints down by 1.16%, Sun Pharma down by 1.13%, Indusind Bank down by 0.98%, Nestle down by 0.86% and Grasim Industries down by 0.80% were the top losers.

Asian markets were trading mostly in green; Hang Seng advanced 105.1 points or 0.46% to 22,767.81, Jakarta Composite gained 50.77 points or 0.73% to 6,948.97, Shanghai Composite strengthened 18.97 points or 0.57% to 3,335.08, Straits Times rose 0.22 points or 0.01% to 3,860.63, KOSPI increased 11.70 points or 0.45% to 2,571.49 and Nikkei 225 surged 54.07 points or 0.15% to 36,884.76. However, Taiwan Weighted lost 63.56 points or 0.31% to 20,459.03.
