India’s oilmeals export declines by 16% to 311,739 tons in November

The Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA) in its latest provisional data has showed that the export of oilmeals declined by 16% to 311,739 tons in the month of November 2018, as compared to 369,522 tons exported in the corresponding month of last year. However, the overall export stood at 2,043,282 tons during April-November 2018 compared to 1,855,558 tons during the same period of last year, showing an increase of 10%.

During the eight month period, the export of rapeseed meal increased sharply to 745,901 tons from 392,463 tons in the same period of previous year, almost doubled mainly exported to South Korea, Vietnam and Thailand. Export of soybean meal, rapeseed meal and Rice Bran Extraction stood at 785,283 tons, 745,901 tons and 247,457 tons, respectively.

South Korea, France, Vietnam and Thailand are the major importers of Oilmeals. During April-November, 2018 Vietnam imported 355,688 tons, South Korea imported 550,963 tons, Thailand imported 212,159 tons and France imported 140,797 tons of oilmeals. Besides, Iranian market has opened up for Indian soybean meal. During the reporting period, 199,000 tons of soybean meal shipped to Iran against last year just 22,910 tons, supporting export of oilmeals from India.
