Copper futures settle higher as US dollar weakens overseas
Oct-07-2026

Copper futures settled higher on Tuesday as the US dollar weakened against its major peers overseas ahead of the release of Federal Reserve minutes and speeches by its policymakers for signals on a potential rate hike. Copper prices were also improved by gains in tech-related stocks fuelled by optimism about the artificial intelligence boom, even as supply risk builds in Chile. Traders await the return of top metal consumer China from its week-long Golden Week holiday on Thursday to gauge post-holiday physical demand.

Copper futures for December delivery rose $0.0085 to settle at $6.6495 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. However, Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.03% at $14,415 a ton.
