Copper futures settle lower as dollar strengthens
Aug-28-2026

Copper futures settled lower on Thursday, as US dollar strengthened against its major peers overseas, which made dollar-denominated commodities more expensive for overseas buyers. However, some losses were limited by waning LME inventories, limited mine supply and strong structural demand from the artificial intelligence sector, electric vehicles, and power grid modernization.

Copper futures for December delivery fell $0.0125 to settle at $ 6.6890 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.21% at $14,282.50 a ton.
