Crude oil futures end higher amid fading hopes over U.S.-Iran talks

Crude oil futures ended higher on Tuesday as expectations of U.S.-Iran talks over the Strait of Hormuz reopening faded after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that no negotiations with Iran are underway and none are scheduled either.

Benchmark crude oil futures for September delivery rose by $0.44 or 0.52% to settle at $84.94 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery gained by $0.15 or 0.17% to settle at $91.02 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
