Copper futures settle higher on Thursday
Jul-31-2026
Copper futures settled higher on Thursday as the US Federal Reserve's decision to leave interest rates unchanged this week outweighed China's reluctance to launch fresh stimulus measures. Meanwhile, copper also continued to draw support from its strong long-term demand prospects, driven by the global transition to clean energy and the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence data centers.

Copper futures for September delivery gained $0.163 to settle at $6.4745 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 1.63% at $13,803 a ton.
