United Breweries commissions new canning line at Nizam Brewery in Telangana
Jul-17-2026

United Breweries (UBL) has successfully commissioned its new canning line at its Nizam Brewery in Telangana. Completed in a record time from groundbreaking to the first product trial, the project reinforces UBL's commitment to building future-ready manufacturing capabilities.

The new canning line, commissioned as part of the Rs 90 crore investment announced in 2025, has successfully commenced production with its first trial run of Kingfisher Ultra cans. The facility increases the brewery's annual production capacity by 0.4 million hectolitres, taking the total capacity from 0.5 million hectolitres to 0.9 million hectolitres. It will primarily support UBL's growing premium portfolio, including Kingfisher, Kingfisher Ultra and Heineken, catering to the increasing consumer preference for beer in cans.

The investment reflects UBL's continued confidence in the growth potential of the beer category in Telangana and its commitment to premiumization. By expanding local canning capacity, the new line will enable the company to better serve evolving consumer preferences, strengthen supply chain resilience and support the long-term growth of its premium portfolio. The project was completed without any disruption to existing bottle production, reflecting meticulous planning, seamless execution and close collaboration across functions. The expansion also incorporated several value engineering initiatives, including the reuse of existing infrastructure and innovative operational solutions, enabling faster execution while optimizing costs.

United Breweries is maker of Kingfisher beer and Heineken beer in India.
