Crude oil futures settle lower on Monday
Jun-23-2026

Crude oil futures settled lower on Monday following talks over the weekend between the United States and Iran on their war. U.S. Vice President JD Vance said they created a ‘good foundation for a successful final deal’. An end to the war could clear the Strait of Hormuz for oil tankers and allow for the undisputed resumption of deliveries from the Persian Gulf.

Benchmark crude oil futures for July delivery decreased by $2.74 or 3.58% to settle at $73.86 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for August delivery fell by $2.67 or 3.31% to settle at $77.90 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
