May-19-2026

Crude oil futures settled higher on Monday as the U.S. administration takes time to respond to Iran's new peace proposal, while the uncertainty surrounding reopening of the Strait of Hormuz holds. Besides, US President Donald Trump has warned Iran the ‘clock is ticking’ as talks to bring the war to an end have stalled.

Benchmark crude oil futures for June delivery increased by $3.24 or 3.07% to settle at $108.66 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for July delivery was up by $2.84 or 2.60% to settle at $112.10 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
