Crude oil futures settle higher on Monday

Crude oil futures ended higher on Monday as investors focused their attention on the meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents at the White House amid heightened geopolitical tensions surrounding Russia and Ukraine. In an effort to end the three-plus-year long Russian war with Ukraine, US President Donald Trump had a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Benchmark crude oil futures for September gained $0.28 or 0.44% at $63.42 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery increased $0.44 or 0.67% to settle at $66.60 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
