Copper futures settle higher on strong US jobs data
Jul-11-2025
Copper futures settled higher on Thursday due to a strong US jobs report. The Labor Department said the number of Americans who newly filed for unemployment benefits declined last week, but the report suggested that the size of the unemployed population continued to grow in June. However some gains were limited as the dollar strengthened following US President Donald Trump's announcement of planned blanket tariffs on most trading partners.

Copper futures for September delivery gained $0.1045 to settle at $5.5910 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.73 percent at $9,700.50 a ton.
