Copper futures trade higher on weak American currency overseas

Copper futures were trading higher on Monday tracking weak American currency overseas following US President Donald Trump's announcement of doubling import tariffs on steel and aluminum starting June 4. Meanwhile, investors are now focusing on the US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's speech later today that could guide interest rates policy outlook. 

Copper futures for July delivery gained $0.1885 or 4.03% at $4.8660 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange.
