Crude oil futures unable to hold their ground and closed sharply lower on Monday. The crude prices declined amid reports of progress in negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, with a third round of talks about Iran's nuclear program set for later this week. Meanwhile, traders also await for signs of progress from President Donald Trump's trade talks amid ongoing trade war.

Benchmark crude oil futures for May plunged $1.60 or about 2.47% at $63.08 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for June delivery slumped $1.7 or 2.5% to settle at $66.26 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
